Well, I took the leap. I've been shooting a lot lately, but it's all been on digital. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE digital, but I'm missing some of that base knowledge that comes with working with the film format. So, I fixed that!
I went out and bought a medium format film camera. I figured I might as well get a format I don't currently own, so I picked up a 4.5x6 Bronica film camera. It's a bit older, but I actually love the way the thing works. I have to say it's VERY different than working on digital. For one thing, I make sure my lighting and metering is PERFECT before hitting that shutter. I only get 15 shots, so I have to make sure every shot counts. Another issue is that I'm very much an instant gratification person - something that problems comes with the Nintendo generation. I'm going crazy right now waiting for the lab to open tomorrow so I can go get my rolls developed.
I'm excited to see what comes out of yesterday's shoot. I worked with Bella because I know her and she's very patient when I'm in "learning" mode, so I'm hoping to have some good shots posted by this week. Who knows, if they come out divine, I may add film to my portfolio!
I'll be posting some more Bella pics and some pics of a musician friend of mine later tonight. Adios!
